How You Can Save Electricity At Home
One thing that you can do is turn off your lights. This is common knowledge but many still forget to do this. Get into the habit of turning things off that you don't need not leaving them running.
Not only turn your lights off, but be sure to change the lights that you use at home. There are low wattage bulbs that you can get today that are just as bright as the higher wattage bulbs. Using these saves quite a bit of energy and doesn't really require you to be in the dark.
Get new appliances. If you have a few in your home that are older, they are probably very inefficient. When you get more efficient appliances they will use less energy and save you money in the long run.
Insulate your home better. Heating and cooling are some of the the most expensive home utility expenses. When you insulate your home, it costs less money to cool down your home during the summer taking less energy.
Keep your air conditioning up a few degrees warmer during the summer. While this might not be as comfortable, you can save more electricity.
Unplug your major electrical devices at home. Many aren't aware that things like your large screen television still draw power even while it's plugged in. All day long you are wasting wattage from these types of appliances even when off. Get a wattage meter and test out your electrical devices to see if any are doing this to you. Unplug those that are using way too much power.
